Being a part of Brahmpatura’s marshlands, it boasts of a stunning ecosystem. Whether you are a birding enthusiast, a wildlife lover, wilderness explorer, Kaziranga has it all. It is also home to the Big Five: The One-Horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian elephant, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Even if you are not able to spot any wildlife, a safari through Kaziranga is an out-of-the-world experience as it’s a very well preserved and maintained national park with wetlands, green lands, and other terrains. Day 11: Cycle tour in Majuli
Rise and shine in Magical Majuli, a utopian place lost in time encircled by the swift waters of the mighty Brahmaputra. What better place to end our cycling expedition than Majuli which is made for cycling! The Majuli Tourism Board has been promoting cycling as part of their Sustainable Eco-Tourism Development Project, as they believe travel should be about being in a place and not just passing through it and the best way to engage in a new land is on a cycle. Most importantly, they want to make Majuli India’s first carbon-neutral district! Flat, straight, empty, and unending roads, forest trails, lush countryside, green fields, verdant farmlands, forests, uncountable wetlands, and streams make Majuli the perfect spot to get on our bikes and explore to our heart’s content! As you immerse yourselves in this spectacular island’s slow pace of life, captivating nature, and interesting history and culture, we would also visit historic satras (monasteries dedicated to Lord Vishnu and centres of traditional crafts and performing arts) and discover fishermen’s villages. We also get a chance to visit the homes of the ingenious Mishing Tribe that have been elevated on bamboo stilts for protection during the flood season. The highlight of the day is having lunch in a monk’s house!
